California is a hub for education. With more than 2.1 million college students, the state leads the nation with the highest number of college-going students. Yet, not all paths to a postsecondary education are linear. Every student has a unique educational journey. The Student Pathways data story provides information on key milestones for students as they navigate from high school to college and into their careers over time.
We are excited to introduce the Student Pathways Data Story, the first public tool from the California Cradle-to-Career Data System (C2C). For the first time in the state of California, communities can explore and understand the many paths that students take from high school into the workforce using verified education and workforce data.

The Student Pathways Data Story offers valuable insights through easy-to-read visualizations that include hundreds of thousands of stories through C2C’s linked data. Still, you may have questions. Learn how to navigate the dashboards including how to filter by school or legislative districts as well as student characteristics to better understand the experiences of students in California.
Student Stories
The Student Pathways Data Story features a collection of student stories highlighting the educational journeys of individuals navigating unique educational challenges and triumphs. Through text and visual narratives, these stories illuminate themes of resilience, systemic barriers, and personal growth. The aim is to provide educators, policymakers, and school administrators with firsthand perspectives on the lived experiences of students.
