The California Cradle-to-Career Data System is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of its first Lesson Plan Challenge. This statewide initiative invites teachers to design lesson plans that showcase innovative and accessible ways to integrate C2C’s Student Pathways Dashboard into instruction, enabling students, educators and communities to interpret education and career pathways data and insights, build data literacy skills, while centering student experience in exploring data.

The California Cradle-to-Career Data System will soon launch its second planned analytical tool, the Query Builder, which will complement and leverage the Student Pathways Data Story to make information easier to access and provide a deeper data experience for users interested in exploring the rich data on student and career outcomes in California that are found in the dashboards.
Join us for a lunchtime session where we will preview the first phase of the Query Builder and offer an opportunity to answer questions from the public.
The California Cradle-to-Career Data System (C2C) has launched the Student Pathways Data Story, a first-of-its-kind informational tool designed to help students understand their educational and career options. It provides valuable insights through user-friendly visualizations that include hundreds of thousands of narratives derived from C2C’s linked data.
If you have questions, we invite you to join us for a virtual walkthrough. This session will guide users on how to navigate the Student Pathways dashboards and offer the opportunity to engage with the C2C team, who will be available to answer questions about the data story.
C2C seeks new Community Engagement and Data and Tools Advisory Board members to help shape the data system.
The Community Engagement Advisory Board examines whether the Office is creating strong feedback loops with data users, supporting evidence-based decision-making, analytical capacity, and ensuring equitable access to actionable information.
The Data and Tools Advisory Board examines whether the data system is providing actionable information and identifying ways to improve access to that information.
Please join C2C on April 24 for a virtual Community Conversation about the Advisory Board application process! Attendees will have an opportunity to engage with C2C staff and ask questions pertaining to the application process.
During the planning process of the Cradle-to-Career Data System, state agency representatives and community members recommended that the analytical data set include information on workforce training to deepen understanding about ways that adults prepare for jobs and to identify how education and workforce training relate to employment and earnings.

In partnership with the Education Lab at the University of California, Davis and the California Student Aid Commission, the California Cradle-to-Career Data System (C2C) surveyed over 11,000 students on their college preparation and financial aid and college application experiences. C2C’s third annual Student Experience Report, highlights the challenges and real experiences students face as they navigate the transition into postsecondary education.
We invite you to join our virtual Community Conversation on Tuesday, February 18 to learn more about the most pressing issues students face when applying to college and financial aid. During the Community Conversation, we will highlight the report’s key findings, students’ voices, and solutions that can be leveraged to better help students navigate the burdensome process.

C2C’s Advisory Board members serve a three-year term and a third cycle off each year. The 2024 Advisory Board applications are launching soon, so this conversation will provide updates on this year’s selection process for the Data and Tools and Community Engagement Advisory Boards. We will also share information on the updated application form and rubric and provide an opportunity for Q&A.

Authorizing legislation established that the data system have two Advisory Boards to provide input and feedback and to make recommendations to the Governing Board. Following approval from C2C’s Governing Board during the February 2024 meeting, members of the public now have a way to submit their own proposals that Advisory Board members can sponsor.
We will walk attendees through the advisory board proposal process and how the public can get involved, highlighting new resources, including a redesigned Advisory Board proposal page on the C2C website.
